iPhone coming to OZ! (...95% certain...?)

Vodaphone has announced it will be one of the carriers for the iPhone in Australia!

cant find it yet?... it says WWDC. Bottom left tile. Pictured is an iPhone, no its not an iPod touch.

I dont think so. When the iPhone SDK was released, only the US site had the SDK picture with the iPhone in it... not Australia. The fact that they are now picturing it on the Australia website is a choice made, and it is very cheekily suggestive.

If apple wanted to simply advertise WWDC to Australian customers then they would have had just a picture of a mac with the letters WWDC on it.

Granted, Apple Canada doesn't have that tile on it's site, but Rogers confirmed it. But you never know what Apple will do...

Hey Levi... looks like Vodaphone scored the deal... not just Australia, but India, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey as well. :)

yep so I just read! I couldn't be more excited... i'm currently with vodaphone!

although, im not sure i want a locked in contract- but we'll wait and see... apparently unlocked phones will be sold at apple stores (which is ok by me!)

i read it but i dont get it :( will Apple still be selling the phone from their stores? can i still use my Telstra sim card in it? is it NextG capable? will i get NextG speed with my Telstra sim. or do i need a vodaphone 1?

We dont know all the facts, nothing has been officially announced by Apple.

All we do know is that Vodaphone will DEFINITELY be selling the iPhone in its store most likely on a monthly plan of its own, or some prepaid bundle.

speculation also states that Apple stores will be selling the iPhone ready for any carrier, any sim. Although this isnt yet fact.

Theres also a strong suggestion Optus and Telstra stores will sell the iPhone (likely on a plan or bundle of sorts too). People are treating this as fact but it has Not been confirmed by either party.

The next iphone is 95% likely be 3G compatible (NextG) as no networks in Australia support anything else for wireless roaming internet (to my knowledge).

As for your telstra sim.... seriously, Telstra is a ripoff. Save yourself, come over to Vodaphone!

lol it may be a rip off but i got a mate who works in telstra so i get unlimited free credit. so i love it :)
