MBP w/4GB or MBP w/ Peripherals

Hey guys,

I am ordering the MBP on newegg and they have an offer (see in the link) that if i buy their combo pack i will have additional $25 Off!

Combo kit has Mushkin 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Memory for Apple.

Now the other Choice is that I take the MBP and take the Wired Mighty Mouse with the cash left with me. Now i don't have enough cash to buy both of them. I am in Kuwait and my friend is ordering it for me. Please reply soon as it is that i have to order it by tonight.

Get the RAM.

Honestly, more RAM beats a Mighty Mouse, especially a wired one. You can always just buy a generic mouse if you want, or use the one you got now.

My PowerBook G4 sits right here on my desk, and I use the trackpad instead of the mouse. Why? Because the trackpad kicks ass! And with the multi-touch trackpad of the MBP kicks even more ass.

Either you'll have one 2GB stick or you'll have two 1GB sticks.

If you have one 2GB stick, then buy that model MBP, then just buy an extra 2GB RAM.

If you have two 1GB sticks, then yeah, you'll have two extra 1GB sticks when you buy the 4GB kit. Sell them for money.

You said i can put any mouse in the macbook pro.. I thought only mighty mouses are supported?

Are Razor mouses better than mighty mouse?

lol, all mouses are supported by Macs. I even use a Microsoft Wireless one!!! hahaha.

it's all about your opinion on which mouse is better.

also, make sure the RAM fits his computer before you tell him to buy it . there's all different types of RAM

I'm all for upgrading the RAM and getting a good deal but remember this: if something were to go wrong with the machine and they find that you have 3rd party RAM, they will immediately send the machine back to you and not continue until you put the original RAM in. At least, that's what 5 different Apple stores have done to me. Luckily, I still had the original RAM.

If you think you can live with 2GB of RAM, which most people can, then do so.

If you want to go all out and get 4GB of RAM, then you can do that.

It really is a matter of personal preference. There is no *right* choice, IMO.

2GB is more than sufficient unless you really wanna work the hell out of your MBP with large collection of RAW files in apertures, or say constant HD editing in Final Cut.

Unless you wanna do that, I think you can live happily with 2GB ram. Don't even go for mighty mouse unless you love it too much. You can use any generic mouse for your mousing requirements. Save your money, don't just spend on things you REALLY don't NEED.

You can always upgrade your ram later when you have sufficient funds and/or you feel the need for it.

the last time i used a mighty mouse is when i was in my Graphic Design class. but i think that the mouse wasnt a great one. Can you suggest me a mouse for under $50. which will go good with my macbook pro. And yes my friend in uni also told me that macbook pro is soo fast you wont need 4GB.. its just a waste for me.. Coz i m not into movie editing n stuff.. i'm more into image editin n all..

Buut i am seriously looking for a good mouuse for under $50... a friend gave me this link.. how are these mouses(mice).. please gimme a feedback..

Razer is really nice mouse... high precision and high sensor reading, for gaming and such. I have NO idea if they have drivers for mac though for all that added functionality. I mean, the mouse will work just fine under OS X. But Razer have their driver level software with which you can customize key mappings, sensor settings, dpi settings etc. It might not matter, but what's the point of spending $50 on a mouse which extra functions you can't use and then realize that $15 mouse would have worked just fine.

IMO... get any above generic level mouse from Logitech or Microsoft and you should be set just fine.
