Explorer.exe

Ok sometimes I kill 'explorer.exe' from the task manager and to bring it back I used to go on new task and type 'explorer.exe'. Now since I've reformatted if I kill 'explorer.exe' then try to run it as a new task again, it opens up the 'Documents' folder where as it used to bring up the taskbar and icons again.

Anyone know what I can do to solve this?

Hiya parry. I'm not a total computerwizard, so I did a quick search and found a bunch of threads that may relate to your problem:

http://search.techrepublic.com.com/search/...plorer.exe.html

And another that might help you out:

Let me know how it goes:d.

Startup Organizer - (in SO-> startupGuard) may solve this problem !

It's not startup that's my problem, it's just once I close taskbar from task manager i can't reopen it without logging off.

I've got that problem, no clue what causes it.

I can only assume the taskbar starts with an argument.

@ parry

Yeah, I get that...the links i found does however discuss why and how maybe to avoid explorer opening with "My Documents" as default folder. If you google " explorer.exe opens documents" you'll find alot of hits that deal with various causes and solutions to make explorer open "My Computer" instead of "My documents". And as far as I understand you, that is the problem, right. You want to explorer.exe to open "My Computer" instead of "My Documents", right?

@Poshi

Or maybe a lack of same...some of the solutions in the links and the search states, that adding an argument to "Windows Explorer" in the startmenu->programs->accesories should fix the problem.

I'm not guarantee that it'll help you, but it's worth a look I think.

Well before i re-formatted 'explorer.exe' used to open my taskbar, and make my desktop icons re-appear (if I killed explorer.exe from task manager or if it crashed)

I'll give those links another read over though.

I'm sry I can't help any further. I really hope you get it sorted out.

Please post the solution if you find it. It'd be great for others who run into the same problem:).

Ok, thanks for trying to help though :)

I've got it!

The explorer taskbar needs administrative privs, so start your taskmanager with admin privs, and it works! Yay!

Just tried this and i still got the same problem :(

#499085

Oh...

You went into processes tab and clicked the show proccesses from all users button, right? (That restarts it in admin mode)
