What's the difference?

Im trying to figure out what the difference here is between what this flyakite does and what Im already doing with the stardock programs.

I can make my computer (win xp ) look as close to Mac as possible with the stardock suite of products which seems to me to be as close as possible to get it looking that way. I've looked through the screenshots here to see if maybe they've managed to like make the start menu more like a real mac menu but that doesn't seem to be the case.

So what's the difference here? I do notice some programs that they offer for free like the bar at the bottom of the screen that shrinks and expands when you mouse over it like as does on a mac computer, but is there some other fundamental differences between flyakite and all the stardock products?

FlyaKite will modify your system files to give you a more Mac OS X feel by.... modifying them. A lot of Stardock programs are included with the FlyaKite installation.

It will modify a lot of stuff, like your Shell32.dll (contains your system's icons), removes "Most Recent Documents" from various places, and yadda yadda yadda. You can read more about what FlyaKite does on the website. However, there are certain cases were FAK will **** up your computer. However, most of the time, everyone will get the same result (success).

Stardock on the other hand will not modify your system files, but will simply install additional applications on your computer that can be manipulated to make your computer more Mac-ish. Applications like this include Windowblinds, Objectbar, and Obdjectdock. All of these applications are payware/shareware and will expire after x amount of days.

Thank you for the response. I figured if it was going to **** up my machine now was a good time to find out since Im about ready to do a reformat and reload of the OS anyway since I do that every 3 to 4 months to keep everything clean and tidy. So far so good, other than some oddities that I've not yet figured out....

Maybe someone can help with these things, maybe they are perfectly normal.

When I click on a program that is listed on my start bar (like internet explorer window that is open) it minimizes it down to the object bar at the bottom of the screen, Is there a way so that it doesn't show up in the task bar at all and only shows up down in the object bar?

When I right click on a windows title bar it rolls it up like I would like it to do , however it also brings up a right click menu with things like Restore, minimize and close on it. When I use the roll up in stardocks products it just rolls up the window without that right click menu coming up.

Lastly for now, and it's probably not even possible, but I sure would love for the start menu to be more mac'ish or at the very least, have it so that it's upside down, so that the "all programs" is at the top near the start button instead of being at the bottom. The way it is now works fine if your start bar is on the botom of the screen but when it's on the top of the screen it's rather odd like it is, even though I make extensive use of the "pin to start menu" options for my most frequent programs.

Also is there a way of adding shortcuts to programs to this object dock bar? I wish to add my other browsers to the object dock bar but fail to see how to do that?

To add shortcuts to the Object Dock bar, simply drag and drop them to it. It's recommended that you try out other docks (RkLauncher, RocketDock) too, unless you're using the paid OD version.

Thanks, I've tried out Rocket dock and am going to be sticking with it for a while, I like it's features and ease of use.
