Apple iPhone confirmed for Australia?

It was perhaps inevitable that the iPhone would/will find its way to Australian shores... and no Not just the hacked version.

Sensis, an advertising and directory sector of Australia's largest telecom "Telstra" placed a job advertisement for a "Business Analyst" to create iPhone application on the third of March.

While no real date has been given, this essentially has confirmed that 'yes, the iphone is coming' trumping Apple to the announcement.

The advertisement posted on the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association website reads;

"Are you a business analyst with experience gathering and documenting requirements for interactive web or mobile products? We’re looking for a BA with a technical front-end UI background to help us design cutting-edge search applications for the iPhone. This isn’t boring old specification-heavy BA work. This is exciting and agile BA work to help us envision mobile search applications that work great and look beautiful. Let us know if you think you’ve got the right combination of creative flair, geekiness, and detail orientation to get the job done."

Theres no saying yet whether or not Telstra will be the exclusive carrier, but no less, this is exciting news for the Ozzy's out there.

Furthermore, it could well indicate that a 3G iPhone is imminant, with Telstra placing strong backing on its new 3G network over edge and CDMA.

I agree, Telstra is a ripoff... all thier plans.

But it probably does have the best next G coverage.

Other reports floating around Google suggest that Sensis software will be available to non-telstra networks, further suggesting that the iPhone may come to other networks too.

If it gets locked into a telstra contract, i'll just get mine unlocked and connect it to Vodaphone.
