After I updated to the xp sp3 yesterday, I found my pc exactly runs faster, but I cannot use any VS any more, even I tried patch UXtheme.dll using the UXtheme patcher.
Any help?

?? Strange
I have the same problem, since I updated to sp3 flyakiteosx patched most of the files automatically, but this version of uxtheme.dll cannot be patched with the latest uxthemepatcher. so we have to wait until a new uxthemepatcher will be created
Maybe copy the patched SP2 uxtheme.dll to the SP3 system?
yes and change the build number inside uxtheme.dll when you copy the sp2 one over
so what all did you have to do csongi?
I took the patched uxtheme.dll from sp2, I changed the build number in resedit and I replaced the sp3 one with this edited one, just like Björn & DarkDragon suggested
well done csongi. Good summary explanation too.
Or just use a hex editor on the new uxtheme.dll, search for the hex string 81 EC 88 00 00 00 A1 18 and replace it with 33 F6 8B C6 C9 C2 08 00
i like Gideon007's idea the most, its more practical. Havent tried it though...maybe flyakite will release an update soon?
any way of getting sp3 a few days early? seems stupid that they dont release it when its finished...
Um. TechNet and MSDN. Theres a copy floating around the web if you know where to look.
Not a big deal though, just wait 3 days.
been three days for the last two hours and sp3 isnt available yet lol
edit: meh just downloaded it and there arent really any visible improvements...
Just thought I would help out.
Heres what I did to make it work.
I took the uxtheme.dll from storm119's link, then I used this to replace the new file with the old file -
www3.telus.net/_/replacer/
After you do what it asks and reboot, you should be good to go with your themes again!
The problem with themes in SP3 is that this Service Pack checks for digital signatures in the Skin Themes.
But, don't worry, there's no major problem here, just patch your uxtheme.dll with the new patcher for SP3, and you'll be fine.
Flyakite will be back.
That's why I am sticking to XP SP2. ![]()
