hmm.. dont really can say i like this.... damn thats ugly
if thats a prototype they got a looooong way to go with the gui. look at that startbar!
ew. Probably won't be anything like the final, though, right (?)
It looks like the next version of Windows will be nice though.
whoa
, are those tabs i see on that startbar?
HELP!! HELP!! The vortex is drawing me in! I actually think it looks kinda nice ![]()
i actually kinda like it.. for a prototype but you have to realise it will look alot more different in the final versions whicgh they say they arnt going to show off the real final aero shots... which is part of the surprise for longhorn... but its coming along nicely

me too
I love how out off all the really great pictures from August 20th...the only ones that get posted directly to our forum are the orignal grainy prototype pic!
Personally I am really digging that pic at the bottom right of the latest batch...looks like a blue tinted piece of glass or something.
But even if you dont like the way it looks...They are building longhorn with the ability to run special effects "think Geine Effect, Dock Magnification, etc" without taxing your processor.
Should be a really great step forward for the Aqua sceen.
taken from ieXbeta:
"Thanks to Betaguy9000 for this:
Robert Scoble, technology evangelist for Longhorn at Microsoft, has called into question several purported screenshots of the next-generation Longhorn interface code-named "Aero."
The images originate from a presentation by Steve Ball, program manager for Microsoft's Windows Audio Video Devices Group, given at WinHEC 2003 last May. But Scoble says the three month-old shots appear to be early concepts, not Aero itself, which Microsoft keeps under strict lock and key."
Oh god, that is probably the crappiest gui i have ever seen! Guess i'l have to stick to win2k still.
I think it looks rather friendly to the eye, easy to use for the general computer user.
Yeah, those screenshots AREN'T real. They may be mockups, but not actual. Some of the icons in the shots are EXACT copies from BeOS. I highly doubt MS would simply just steal the icons.
your right contra
mmmm.... Thats good GUI!
wow. that looks awesome! I like the buttons and the "add hardware" and "hardware properties screenies" total coolness.
Very Mac-like
they're mockups STRAIGHT from microsoft, i've had this confirmed by several people. >.
forget about windows gui guys. :6 you're not going to like it anymore than that of an os x ones. that's why we're here.
back in the win98, ME, 2K time, we were trying to tweak them so they could look like mac os 7, 8 or 9. yeah, give microsoft a break, ok, fine, they came out with the slickier xp, and longhorn is in the offing, wowed and is going to wow a lotta people, but so what, apple came out with their aqua, and panther is around the corner. admit it, we just like anything else than a windows gui. ![]()
Yeah, but it would be nice if MS really made things right this time. Maybe they now have a team of gui designers!
BTW, i like the Aero look!
I have to say that windows is going in the wrong direction as far as interface is considered, they're nothing close to what apple's done with OS X, they have perpetually gone in the crappy direction of the interface spectrum, and longhorn does not break the tradition. Microsoft has to get a new design team, preferably former OS X design team members, to correct all the wrong Microsoft has done!!! :6 :6 :6 As far as functionality goes, OS X is extremely user friendly, and I'm using Panther beta right now!!! But those screenshots don't detail the new functions, so you never know.
