Shell32 Hack

Hey guys,

Ive read all the tutorials at Icemans site and Im still having a little prob. Im trying to replace my shell32.dll with icemans hacked one and Im doing the process where I hit ctrl atl delete and launch the task manager, I then end explorer.exe and go to file new task then browse and copy the hacked shell32.dll then navigate to windows/system32/dllcache and paste it which works fine but when i try step 2 which is paste it in the main system32 folder i get a error saying "file is being used, close any programs that might be using it". in folder option I have show hidden and unchecked hide system files. Ive tried this over and over and even went as far as closing all closable progs through the task manager but get that same "file is being used" error. Anyone have any suggestions? Im using xp home edit. by the way. Thanks in advance

I don't know if you missed part of his tutorial or what, but from what I remember it does state in the tutorial that you have to rename the original file to like shell32.bak or something like that. If a file is in use, you can't simply overwrite it, but you can rename it. Once you rename it, then paste your file in the folder and everything should be fine.

the prob was I had renamed it once before and thought that was only done for back up purposes, also read that I need to copy the file to Service Pack Files folder too, so it works now. Thanks alot for the reply.
