Get all the crap off your hard drive, or better yet, reformat and start fresh, especially if you are on a factory-installed installation.

Yeah thats probably the best idea to get all the crap out of your hard drive like Phantom_Lord said ;)

Did you try googling the specific error? try looking at the Microsoft knowledge base pages? your problem could be any number of things...we'd need more specifics AFTER you've exhausted the other two sources I first stated.

try to reinstall your vista

What is your computer model? (not "lolx0rs 2006 Dell laptop", right-click on Computer and select properties and get your model number, HD size, processor speed, ram, etc)

i think you have to check your window with antivirus

it may possible that your pc is infected with virus, or reinstall your window.;

I had this problem last night, I reset all my power options and uninstalled Dreamscene, now it shuts down fast and smoothly.

uh virus shouldn't delay shutdown for hours

and even if it had the power to do that then it might as well have prevented him from manually shutting down.

My PC took two or more hours to shut down after some updates.. that might be all it is.

Chock That B*tch jp but i would suggest restarting that seems like the most logical answer

As in restart I mean by what Phantom Said

Get all the crap off your hard drive, or better yet, reformat and start fresh, especially if you are on a factory-installed installation.

Resetting to factory defaults is pretty good way to start fresh, I've done it twice. :)
