Aqua-Soft ForumsI've been desperately wanting and begging for a Mac for a while, but my dad's always said no because of the ridiculous prices (which I really can't argue with X_X). Yesterday, though, we went to Fry's Electronics (aka God's waiting place) to get me a new TV and I went to try out all the Macs. My dad saw the Mac mini and how much cheaper it is than the other Macs. He said he would consider getting me one soon just to shut me up about them. (
) Truthfully, I'd much, much rather have a MacBook or MacBook Air than a not-so-portable Mac mini, but it's almost impossible to complain when you're being offered a free Mac of any kind. So I'm kind of wondering... Other than the fact that it doesn't come with iSight, a mouse, keyboard, or monitor, is there any downside to the Mac mini that makes it so much cheaper than the other Macs? Obviously, since I'm posting on the forums, I already have those things (except for a good webcam); I'd just need to buy a Mac keyboard so I'd have the Option and Command buttons. But is there some other catch, like less memory or RAM, Boot Camp (or any other great application) not included that would be included with any other Mac, worse video card, etc? Any help would be appreciated.

About the Mac mini...
The Mini is the most overpriced Mac of them all. Add a display and you'd be better off to just get an iMac or a MacBook.
I wouldn't think about a MacBook Air though. They're too overpriced considering that they're not that useful as a main computer, not to mention the MacBook has much better specs.
To answer your questions, yes it has much less RAM. (and a VERY small hard drive) I couldn't imagine running Leopard on 1GB after experiencing it with Vista. If you do get one though, get the upgraded version with 2GB of RAM. You'll be alot happier. You can use BootCamp, but don't forget that Windows uses up disk space, and don't even think about Parallels with the 1GB model.
