Aqua-Soft Forumsi just recently formatted my extranal HD for timemachine.. can i still use this drive just to store files on ? or do i have to make a seperate partion for this ?

You can use the rest of the drive for storage. The TimeMachine backup is only a file.......just leave enough room for it to keep a decent history to make TimeMachine more effective.
You don't have to partition it, because the Time Machine backup is just one folder on the drive. So long as you don't get rid of the Backups.backupdb folder, you'll be fine.
