[help] Icon Encoding

How do you encode an icon to hold various formats (e.g., 16x16-128x128) and preview at a thumbnails view. I notice that the icons will not preview at thumbnails if they read 16x16 under a tiles view. Even though they're encoded up to 128x128. But if they read at 128x128 under tiles view, they will view fine under a thumbnails setting. <_<

Thanks! (Y)

it has to do with the order. 16-128 or 128-16 i forgot. when you make the icon, in iconworkshop for example, you put them in a certain order on the left, i forgot which order it needs to be in to preview with 128x128. i know exactly what you are talking about.

How do you change the resolution list?

what program for icon editing do you use?

IconWorkshop 5

on the left you will see the icons in their formats, try reordering them, drag and stuff

you might need to re-make the icons to icons with the batch convert to windows icon's, it should get the correct order to display 128x128 as the thumbnail. Other ways is that you could try with @icon Sushi, but it will take long to fix an entire collection, but with it just open the icon file, and using some arrows in the toolbar move the order of the size to the correct order. I think it is 16-128.

Good Luck

Thanks for the advice! (Y)

Unfortunately, I can't get it to go by dragging or batch processing w/Workshop. I'll give Sushi a try in a bit. I also posted on the Axialis board, so if they answer I'll let you know how its done w/Workshop. Thanks again!

Update: The Axialis board relates the encoding problem to a bug in the 5.03 CE. They're currently working on a fix, but no time is listed for the release.

In reference to this problem, I have a small utility written by Duncan Lawler that can rearrange the icon format order.

Just make sure that 128x128 or whichever format is the largest is the last one in the list.

Since IconWorkshop saves the 16x16 last, this is what you see in thumbnail view.

Very cool applelover I'll give that a try! (Y) Axialis is working on a fix, but there isn't a release date for it as of yet.
