it kinda depends on what the drivers are for. I personally like having the latest drivers but I tend to download them from the actual manufacture and not MS. That's just a personal preference. As long as you are using final release drivers and not betas or alphas, you should not have a problem and depending on what the driver is for, it can really make your system run smoother.
it's nice to have the updated drivers, but Windows Update doesn't always have the most up to date drivers, take the nVIDIA display drivers for example...
One philosophy regarding Windows Update driver updates (and any driver update, in general,) is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"--that is to say, if everything on your computer is working fine, you probably don't need a driver. There are exceptions of course, like if the details of the driver update reveal that the driver improves the performance of something. Another potential reason to upgrade a driver is for compatibility issues; companies will often release driver updates to fix a compatibility problem, whether with a certain aspect of Windows, or with any other component of your system. In this regard, you can update your drivers to ensure that you have any compatibility fix that you might need. But, then again, as is the ultimate risk about getting driver updates, you risk creating a problem (whether through a botched installation or a new incompatibility introduced by the new driver). So, I guess the best advice would be to check the details of each driver. If it fixes a problem you have now or anticipate having in the future, or improves the performance of something, you can consider getting it. If it just says it's a general update without explaining exactly what the update does, or if it fixes a problem you don't have and don't anticipate having, it might not be the best idea to get it since it probably won't help you and you run the risk of breaking something that wasn't broken.
