Don't let it die

Here is a new, more compatible and fine tuned RK Launcher installer. It was posted in my site a couple of days ago. I apologize for taking so long to post it here. This installer compilation is an update for Windows Vista SP1 users but you can go ahead and install it under XP as it will work just fine. By the way the installer is compiled for both platforms 32Bit and 64Bit.

Updates:

Ability to change the installation path.

Ability to Repair RK Launcher installation in case something goes wrong with RK Launcher.

StacksDocklet update included

Icons included

Translations included

Sorry not to have a direct link but we have hotlink protection in our servers to protect our bandwidth usage.

Note: you don't have to register an account in our site to download. Simply click the download link and enjoy.

Thanks to RK Launcher community for keeping it alive.

p.s I've been reading that RK Launcher source code will be given to the community. Is this true?

Very good by now. Stick to this one. Please attached your reflected icons tutrial as the previous tutrial by one (forgot his name) wasn't good.

found one bug. sometimes icons not show up in tasks docklet. that happens with custom icons. For instance. I decided to change png image for folder class. After applying I have got a blank icon or just a space without image. SO the only way to have different image for folder icons in tasks is to change the default image in docklet's resources folder. In my case it was generic folder.png

It would be great if tasks were Alt-tab replacement as it has mouse activation like in Mac.

and one more thing. it would be better if you add in the topic's name that it is RKLauncher new version or whatever.

Tasks docklet icons are displayed based on the application ClassName.

When you have a blank space instead of an icon it means there is no icon specified in the Task Docklet configuration for that ClassName (application).

Let's go ahead and show you how to get it done or how to configure it so you use your own icons. (This is one thing I love about RK Launcher and docklets. (they are extremely customizable)

First you need to browse to the Task Folder under RK Launcher installation folder. (C:Program FilesRK LauncherRK Launcher 0.41 Beta NightlydockletsTasks)

There are two files we will be working with:

83ce67088e142588c32a55be883b338c.jpg

taskslist.txt

tasks.ini

taskslist.txt will help you to figure out which application is currently running and what its ClassName is. For example: Let's run Paint to find out its ClassName. Start Paint, go back to the Tasks Folder, open taskslist.txt and you should be able to find it.

Following the screenshot above we now know Paint application ClassName. (MSPaintApp) Close taskslist.txt and let's configure tasks.ini to display the icon we want whenever we launch Paint.

Important!

Make sure you close RK Launcher before you attempt to modify tasks.ini

Which means we will close RK Launcher now before modifying anything at all.

Again, go back to the Tasks Folder in the RK Launcher installation Folder and open tasks.ini

Scroll down the list and create a new value for your application ClassName and to display the icon you want: (In this example we are working with Paint)

ICON_047=MSPaintApp|MYPAINTEXAMPLE.png

409f468d2da436a4e172194a8d525a07.jpg

Save those changes and exit out tasks.ini

We are almost done! What are we missing? The icon image (MYPAINTEXAMPLE.png) Browse to the icons Folder (C:Program FilesRK LauncherRK Launcher 0.41 Beta NightlydockletsTasksicons)

Copy your new image (.png) into that folder to be used as the icon whenever you launch your application and don't forget to properly name it!

Launch RK Launcher over again and run the application to make sure it is displaying the right icon in the Tasks Docklet

thank you for that guide. but I'll repeat that it would be great if it was alt-tab replacement since it has mouse activation. All it need to be perfect alt-tab replacement (Mac style) is hotkey Alt+tab and no icon in the dock.
