I really need to be able to shut my PowerBook G4's (1.67GHz, 15") lid without it having to go to sleep. I know it is possible to do with an external keyboard/mouse and display, but I don't have another monitor to connect to nor can I have an extra keyboard/mouse to leave connected to my computer just so it won't go to sleep. Not to mention, if I don't have a display then the keyboard and mouse trick won't work either.
Also, turning the backlamp off using the F1 function key doesn't really help me, because 1.) it doesn't turn off the screen and 2.) I still need to shut the lid, which still puts the PowerBook to sleep.
I know Apple did this for a reason, to stop overheating issues.
But for the short while I had the PB in desktop mode (External display, keyboard/mouse) the temperature was perfectly fine. Not to mention I use G4FanControl to control my fan speeds if I want to make it cooler, so no big deal there.
If there are any OS X developers, please help me.
If there is anyone here who knows a way, please tell me.
If there is anyone who has any solution, any at all, please, for the love of god, help me
