Using people works in your own work

Like when I make a signature, I go out and find a render from someone and use it in my signature. Is doing that makes me a bad graphics user? Or do I have to render my own picture?

This dude is claiming that people who uses other people works are scum T_T

Using other peoples' works is not bad as long as the original artist intended it to be that way and/or you credit him for it.

Using other people' works AND claiming them to be your OWN WORKS is a bad practice and is called Ripping. This would get you a lot of antipathy from people in a community like this.

Yeah that I get, but this dude just think that using other people works is stupid. The whole point of doing graphics is to share it with other people right?

Which "dude" and which work would be helpful in making a decision whether it's right in that case or not.

It depends what sort of license is on the work. If there's a license saying that you can use it for signatures (or just derivative works not for profit), then go ahead. If it doesn't have a license, don't use it.
