Photoshop help! - removal of red streaks

Hey Photoshop gurus. I have a set of pictures (well several sets) that have red streaks going right through them. It's a camera defect and I almost just threw out vacation photos because of it.

I posted on another forum, and they recommended using a blank layer, setting the blending mode to color and sampling and painting over it, but that removed the redness of the streaks, but not the streaks.

I really like some of these pictures and want to keep them. Can anyone instruct me on what to do to rescue my vacations? :o

Attached are some of the worst cases of the red lines.

The way I would do it;

Turn down the reds in hue/saturation and mask out the reds you want to keep, (or do what you posted above),

Clone over nature stuff like the branch, stone, grass, etc, (you can seamlessly use the clone tool with leaves aswell)

Than some curves and levels adjustments to improve the look and consistency

Now I didn't fully finish it, and the streak is still there, but if you look at the branch and the grass its gone, that was about a half minute job, but that may point you in the right direction.

via color separation? i think you have a problem with green (if color setting is rgb) or cyan (if cmyk). if you can separate the colors, you can identify which color is responsible for the streak. edit that, then recombine. in editing, select that (or cut and paste in separate palette) particular portion which has the problem and adjust brightness/contrast, gamma, saturation, per pixel edit, whatever, to equalize color with normal portions. you can also do cloning, as davidsword said.

then, recombine all the colors. btw, am not familiar with photoshop but i assume it has a facility for color sep...

Well cloning would take way too much time I think. And how would I do that with the first picture? I'm not sure that would be an option.

@kinsemon, i like the idea, but I'm not sure how to go about that. I mean, I can mess with the settings, but I'm not sure I would do any justice. I'll try after I post this.

Any more ideas are also welcome.

Try vanishing point.

same thing: i can't use it with the first picture. It'll remove the text. darn, if its this hard, i'm about to desaturate it and call it a night :P

Edit: Got it over here.
