Hey guys .. i m using Vista Home Premium on my home pc. Since a few weeks it has become very slow. I have done everything i could even switched out many services like Aero but then still it gets slow. Any suggestions other than changing my OS to XP?
Vista problems.
you could reformat, although thats a little extreme it will knock out that its your hardware slowing you down, also when reinstalling apps you can take note of which apps are slowing you down.
given that youve already run a pile of spyware/virus scans, defragged and ccleaner etc,
Reformatting and reinstalling the Operating System sounds like the best idea.
might be your hardware, make sure all the connectors are clean and seated properly
Check if all your drivers are compatible, go to task manager, see if any program is taking up a larger than normal amount of memory, if it is uninstall it. Also, do a virus and spyware scan before concluding anything else
Check the programs run with windows, may be there are some virus or spyware.
Go to the Control Panel and click Uninstall a Program. Then click Turn Windows Features On/Off and remove anything you don't need.
You'd be surprised just how much faster your PC will be by doing this.
Here is a snap of the task manager:

And please give me any other idea than formatting because the next time i format my pc i will put XP and not vista... and yea i m trying to clean the hardware ..
Get rid of that damn Google Toolbar.
That thing is a pig.
Looks like you also have the JAVA update agent running as well. You could lose that.
Take a snap shot of Task Manager again, but this time click the "Show processes from all users" button first.
This will show you ALL the processes, not just the ones YOU are running.
Holy shit, why is IE using up 113,000k? Switch to Firefox or Opera, man. Much faster, stabler, etc.

That's very normal.
Firefox actually uses even more on Vista systems.
And Firefox is in fact slower on Vista systems.
i'll haf to agree with rjohnstone. I personally switched from FF to IE..just cz i was using it before and i'm using vista.

I never noticed how much ram FF uses before now. It's still alot faster than IE7 either way, and unarguably less buggy. P:
