Grey or Gray?
To me, gray is a color, Grey is a name (as in Jean Grey --OK this is what happens when people start posting comic book related wallpapers).
"Grey" is also the official British spelling of the word. But I am not British, so the rule doesn't apply to me.
I haven't noticed the spelling difference until now. I've used both. Do I care which one is correct? No. Language is so mixed up in today's society that it doesn't even matter.

Yep, Grey is the colour and the name, I believe, comes from that. So both should be spelt the same, as in Gandalf The Grey 
Although I hate seeing the word gray written, In the case of whether grey or gray wins doesn't matter, because it's really a language thing. If you are american chances are you use gray. If your an aussie you are more likely to use grey. As Paralex said, language is so muddled up now it doesn't really matter.
The first thing i did when I got my iMac was rename the colour gray to grey. =P

gray refers to, like 'dull' or 'depressing' subject. ie- "the weather was rather gray today"

I usually spell colour with a "U", and I'm a bloody New Yorker. Have been all my life. The "colour" thing I'm damn sure I picked up from this site. Too many damn brits and aussies . oh and for those who are, you all owe me 12 points on my English midterm, for that xD
since we're also on language deformities, we New Yorkers dont believe in the letter "r" nor the existance of any punctual mark besides an exclamatory point.

Gray is proper for a name as well as Grey is a proper name. Grey is the correct colour as well as gray is the correct color. Use the American spell checker and colour gets the red which makes gray gay.
Ok, here is how it is: If you're american you say gray and color.
If you were british or australian (which a lot of people are that posted in this thread ) you'd say grey and colour. Also, when I typed grey or colour in firefox it underlines it in red.

Also to me gray is a color and Grey is a name!
