Everybody wants an iPhone. Really.

Apple's iPhone is the top pick among consumers who said they plan to purchase a new cellular phone in the next six months, according to ChangeWave Research. Of 4,182 consumers surveyed, 17 percent said Apple's iPhone remains their top choice. Research in Motion's BlackBerry came in a close second with 15 percent of respondents expressing interest, while Motorola declined to 11 percent as part of a continuing slide after Apple unveiled the iPhone in June of 2007. The survey also found that Apple is still maintaining a big lead in customer satisfaction, with 72 percent of those surveyed reporting that they are 'very satisfied' compared to other manufacturers like RIM, which holds second place with 55 percent of customers saying they are 'very satisfied.'

Palm ranked at the very bottom in terms of customer satisfaction with 30 percent, while Motorola (34 percent), Sony/Ericsson (34 percent), and Samsung (34 percent) all tied in next-to-last place.

An accelerating shift toward advanced smart phones is occurring, according to ChangeWave, which favors Apple and other manufacturers of sophisticated handsets.

So....yeah....everyone wants the iPhone. But, really, who wouldn't? Silly question.

You've just taken one survey and made it represent something it is not.

Statistics 101.

And as an FYI... I'm one of the 28% of the iPhone owners who is NOT happy with his iPhone.

Ever since 1.1.3, this POS crashes like crazy, will freeze mid call and erases itself for no reason.

Apple will not let you downgrade and they refuse to exchange it since there is "nothing wrong with it" in their eyes.

Seriously, how long has the iPhone been in the hands of consumers? Speaking on my own behalf, boredom usually kicks in after about two to three months, and I start looking for something new. Seems to me there's something horribly wrong with the comparison.

Just hoping that you're not specifically saying this about iPhone... just hoping. Cause last year I realized that it happens to me with every damn phone I've purchased in last 3 years. It's all fine and dandy when I get new phone... for exactly 2 months. Then it's just piece of electronic equipment.

So I got wise didn't jump on iPhone wagon right away. Sure, I love this device... I got one for my girlfriend.. but like me she also admits that novelty wears of after a while. One day I'll get one for myself, but only when it will be truly required (that's when I really feel like replacing my current iPod and current phone is truly counting it's last days).

@rjohnstone: Just wanna know, are you using regular phone (AT&T stuff) or an unlocked one? Cause one of the phone that I got for my uncle was crazy on crashing (it was 1.1.1 though), wiping up, restoring and using different jailbreak solved my problem. Off course that is, if yours is unlocked as well. If not, then I think you should consider downgrading to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2, unless you're using some feature from 1.1.3 that you can't live without.

One of them is a jailbreaked 1.1.2 that I upgraded to 1.1.3 (My phone), the other is an OTB 1.1.2 (Wife's phone) that I upgraded to 1.1.3 (it's completely stock).

Neither has been unlocked at all.

The jailbreaked phone was an OTB 1.0.2 that I upgraded to 1.1.1 then starting jailbreaking it.

Totally stable until 1.1.3 came out. Downgrading has never been 100% successful.

Both the stock phone and the one I've messed with still crash regularly since going to 1.1.3.

I love the features in 1.1.3 and the new map Locate Me feature is 10x more accurate than Navizon was.

Hopefully Apple will fix the "bugs" in 1.1.4. If not, I'm selling them both and going back to my Windows Mobile PDA's. None of them ever crashed on me and had much more functionality.

And yes... the "newness" of the iPhone is wearing thin on my wife and I.

Love the web browser, but I can get the rest of the features and more on many other phones.

@Dave... I love Apple products, but I refuse to drink the Kool-Aid.

Someone has got to keep perspective alive.
