I just bought a beautiful white Samsung 19" HDTV on Saturday and I just received my Mini-DVI to VGA adaptor today. In the specs on my TV, it claims that it has a native resolution of 1440x900, but it's only displaying at a max of 1360x768. It looks very ugly in this off-resolution and I was wondering if there was anyway I can force it to be 1440x900.

It should be, the graphics card is pretty good. I tried SwitchResX but I'm not sure if I'm configuring the Custom Resolution right. I wish Leopard had the "Show modes recommended by display" option in Displays.
It's because you're running through VGA, I think. Could you have got a mini-DVI to DVI, then DVI to HDMI adaptors? Or mini-DVI to HDMI?
Or... (and I just Googled this, so the above statement could be [and probably is] incorrect), it's probably the card.
I'm on an early 2006 iMac with a 256MB ATI Radeon X1600, I mean these machines can handle another 23" ACD, it shouldn't have a problem with a 19" @ 1440x900. It doesn't have a DVI port but it does have an HDMI port which is being unused (since I'm still using my coax line for cable television.) Is there a non-Apple branded mini-DVI -> DVI or mini-DVI -> HDMI adaptors?
OH! I just thought of something (before you rush off to purchase another set of cables). Are you mirroring the display, or extending it?
Also, since mini-DVI is an Apple invention (and I wouldn't be surprised if it were patented), that end will have to be purchased from Apple. A DVI to HDMI adaptor shouldn't be difficult to come across, however.
I extended it, I tried both mirroring and extending it. I even tried SwitchResX for custom resolutions but I don't know how to properly configure Timing Parameters. All I know is that Samsung requires that the refresh rate be 60 hertz, here's a screenshot if you know more than me on how to properly configure it.
