Hi,
I have a problem with Avedesk (and all dock software like RKlaucher, ObjectDock etc). I run them they immediately quit. Avedesk quits after adding a desklet (any). No error message, just quits. It's related to gdiplus.dll. Windows XP SP2 media center, reinstalled (reformat) yesterday. Before xp reinstall i had gdiplus error when running Avedesk. But the was atleast an error message.
anyone has any clues?
By the looks of it you got more issues than just with gdiplus.
If you did a standard install and not a slip-stream then I'd say the first thing to do is make sure all your Windows Updates have been installed.
does that mean all .net packages too?
Depends on what app's you use but, for AveDesk you don't need .net. The docks won't either
didnt help. i updated xp, only updates left are .net 2 and 3, some remote desktop stuff. Has to be something else

Also, remove the language folder.
i have latest dx, updated the VB redist, but no effect.
what language folder do u have in mind?
Inside the AveDesk folder is a languages folder. Actually just rename it, I put a z in front of it on my system.
Have you tried installing AveDesk to a different location?
Have no experience with media center and I'm not sure how the permissions might affect it when running from the desktop.
im running an administrator type account, got zipped avedesk with no install required, tryied to rename languages folder, no effect. Ill just leave it i guess.

problem solved, i moved all my fonts to another dir, then moved back orignal xp ones and bam. avedesk runs, had to be a problem with some of the fonts. but i odnt know which one (had over 700 installed 
)
Interesting, check to see if any are corrupted. I've got a mixture (ttf,fon,otf) of over 800 installed without a problem. Most of those are shortcuts via a font manager though.
hello...i'm new in this forum...so, i please request help for avedesk 1.3 on windows vista...it doesn't work, no icon in the systray, only the name of avedesk 1.3 and no desklet display, so please help me about that [sorry about my english ] i apreciate your help. kerberos84
