Idea For New Section

I've got an idea that kinda recalls the original Aqua-soft site way back when. I thought we could make a section that lists the best of OSX skins/icons/emulation tips that would be continually updated as new releases bring XP closer to OSX.

The way it is now, especially for newcomers to the scene, its sometimes hard to figure out which is the best visual style, the best icons, the best media player skin, and so on. This would be great as in one place everyone could instantly see which is most accurate Windowblinds skin, visual style, and so on and so on.

Just a thought that could make this site even better than it already is.

I think it is a good idea, but it needs good organization.

the reason we never did that back when i was involved (and perhaps why they're not doing it now) is that the "best skin" is a matter of opinion. we didn't want to play favorites so we tried to provide them all. when we originally started out way back when we just wanted a one-stop shop where you could get your aqua fix. the community has grown and changed a bit since then but the purpose i think still remains the same. it's just that server space isn't as easy to come by as it was several years back so it seems that aqua-soft has become more of a forum based community rather than a skin shop (originally we wanted it to be skinners, programmers, etc. who produced everything aqua). anyway, all that to say that it might be good to provide a section that points to where aqua skins/apps are available (which it sort of already does...you just have to dig to find it as it's not all in one spot on the forums)

or perhaps a tutorial on how to aquafy your desktop (i think there are some already). anyway, good suggestion but needs some organization/work.

Yeah i thought of some of those points after I posted. Maybe we could just have a page with all of the aqua skins listed and links to where they could be found (obviously hosting all this stuff on here would take up a lot of bandwith ). I think a "master" tutorial of sorts would be a GREAT idea (and would also get rid of some of the spam on the boards as people ask the same thing over and over.)

It'd just be much easier to have a master list of all aqua apps and skins. It'd also be great to see when skins were updated and such and what the latest version of skins were.
