LEOPARD STACKS ICONS - FINAL RELEASE

These icons have been designed with Matonga's brilliant Stacks Docklet application (http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread....ighlight=stacks) in mind

Since Leopard generates the stacks icons (showing the contents of the folder) dynamically, there are no physical icons that we can obtain from Leopard.

In order to make a small selection of icons available, I dragged real folders onto my Dock, let OS X generate the icon and then I re-created the actual icons as 300 x 300pixel png files. Each icon is faithful to the dynamically generated file and I have paid special care to ensure that even the size and position of the reflective portion is 100% accurate - for example the applications icon is an exact replication of the applications stack on my OS X dock.

There are 28 icons - Application, Browser, Music, Folders, Pictures and Movies and more.....

As I wrote in my description, I dragged various folders onto my Leopard Dock (all different types and sorts - so Leopard would generate its own icons). I chose folders with pictures, apps, video's, text files and some with combinations of all. This gave me a nice selection of Leopard generated icons in my dock.

Pressing the Apple, Shift and 4 key's gives me the ability to screencap any part of the screen I want, so I capture the dock with all the Leopard Stacks icons. OS X places the screencap onto the desktop as a png file (Obviously there are a lot of different ways to capture your screen, but I use the OS X standard method - simply because its easy. You can use your preferred capture program).

I then import the png file into a draw package (Photoshop, or whatever). I clip out the icon I want to re-create, resize the little image to about 300 x 300 pixels so I can see the individual elements in that specific icon. he image is very blurry, but its easy to see what is needed and I re-create the icon at hi-res. When finished I add the reflection and export as a transparent png file. I repeat this process for each icon I want to re-create.

Hope this helps. Good luck

The reason is because the Music stacks icon is just a set of folders with possibly a sheet of paper included. If you drop specific artists onto the Dock, Leopard will show the album art (nothing else) and that is a very personal thing.

If you want 100% accurate Leopard stacks icons (which these are), then a set of folders is all you will get. If you want something a bit more interesting, then it would need to be something invented and not accurate

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Mate, I don't use PS much, but I believe there is a tutorial over here(http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread.php?t=47071). Dunno how good you will find it, but I'm sure that with a bit of patience you will produce magic.

Good luck

There are a number of them I use depending on the system.

On the Mac I use PS.

On the PC I use PS, PhotoImpact or Xara.

In the meantime I have made a 'generic' music icon for your dock. Right-click and save as....
