In Leopard, under Finder > Preferences >Show these items on the desktop, be sure that the CD's DVD's and iPods option is checked as well as maybe external disks. Hope this helps.

This is normal, the touch doesn't show up on the desktop because it has no disk mode and can only be accessed through iTunes. There might be some third party apps that can do the job though.

To my knowledge the iPod touch is not yet enabled for disk usage.

ie- you cannot use it as a flash drive/ hard drive / storage, other than for songs/photos/movies synced by itunes. Hence why it doesnt show up on the desktop.

I think a software update is coming to fix this (or may have already done so). To enable "disk usage" (assuming the latest software you have enables you to do so)

1- go into itunes

2- choose your ipod touch in the source list

3- under "general settings" check the tick box that says "enable disk usage".

ipod should appear on the desktop next time you connect.

Another thing the ipod touch doesnt have (yet) compared to a normal ipod, is the ability to be able to wake up to your own music. sux dont it?

Same for me, I was wondering why my iPod didn't show up, but it's not a huge inconvenience, so I'm fine..

yeah i remembered that it should. i just never realized it so i figured i would ask and see if it was just me. ah well maybe soon it will. i just like having more than the 1 icon on your desktop. the cd pops up at least :)
