Strong holiday sales of both MacBook and iPhones resulted in significant market share gains for Apple during the month of December, according to a Net Applications survey. Mac OS X rose to a record 7.3 percent share from 6.8 percent in November, while the company's iPhone garnered .12 percent share over the previous month's .09 percent. The survey suggests that more than one in 1,000 people on the internet are browsing the Web with an iPhone, according to Fortune.

Looks like Apple is getting more and more deep into the market.

During the final two days of 2007, the market share for Mac OS X reached a record 8 percent, according to web measurement company Net Applications.

This is inaccurate. Look at any story on Google News, it's 8%

None the less interesting.

I dont care what people's views are on Vista itself, but i think most people will agree that the public response has been largely negative- much like windows Me... so much so that PC manufacturers have been forced to offer an XP option, much like they offered a Win 98 option when Me was released... Windows XP never had this problem.

I work at a computer store, and 80% of customers have heard bad stories about vista, and most just wont touch it... making it hard for me to sell computers which come preloaded with it.

90% of them that is...

But then I take them over to the iMac, at first I hear them say;

" I've been told not to touch mac, coz they're different aren't they?", i log on the iMac and say;

"Well yes, yes they are..."

I'm not bombarded by a thousand upgrade programs, crapware or anti-virus scanners to hide... I demonstrate to them coverflow, time machine and the iLife suite...

"Yet... all this is still compatible with windows software if you need it"

They smile, needless to say- the animations look very flashy and the programs are practical too, they're impressed... (I remind them that the whole computer is in the screen).

60% of my customers wanting a new PC, scared of vista, are lured by Leopard's ... perfection... and end up taking an imac... call me a fanboy, but its true- its no wonder Mac is gaining market share.

I went out to buy a macbook yesterday and 7 stores; 2 BestBuys, 3 FutureShops and 2 Henerys were all completely sold out of all three versions of macbooks. After talking to some reps, apparently they were in such demand this year, almost all the ones comming in, in the next shipment were all ready on hold.

So now I have to pay full {canadian} apple price at an 'Mac Outpost' store...

apple is crap with logistics. its true.

mass shortages of all stock has affected Australia nationwide. A lack of supply due to earlier than expected releases I think...
