This could also point to an iPhone introduction in Australia. Telstra has previously criticized Apple for lack of 3G support and lack of knowledge in the mobile field.

You mean the 3G iPhone "leaked", not announced, back on Nov. 28.

The CEO of AT&T hates Steve Jobs.

He was not around when the iPhone deal was worked out with Cingular and has publicly stated that AT&T is getting the short end of the stick on this deal.

It was a pretty much given that Apple would release 3G for the iPhone. There were just way too many people who complained about no 3G for the Jesus Phone. Apple was basically forced to comply...

I believe it is a forgone conclusion, but it won't be in the U.S. or European market for at least another year.

Apple had to make a 3G phone simply because most Asian markets don't have EDGE anymore.

I dont think the 3G iphone will be a marketted thing... like... it will mean a big deal, just like 65nm processors vs 95nm in the XBox 360.

But its not something they'd advertise.

It will mean the iPhone's release in Aus. but, I dont think they will bring 3G to the US, without bringing other features with it, to mark it the "iphone 2".
