IE: Internet Options tabs missing

My brother came to me today saying that he wanted to change his homepage (he's 6) so i went to go and show him, as he uses IE i went into iinternet options to change it fo rhim, but when i opened it up there was no general tab, and actually there are 3 or 4 missing, only privacy and programs were present. I've tried updating and reinstalling IE7 with no luck, and searched around other forums with no avail. Other people seem to have the same problem but wit different tabs, no one is missing what i am....

Any help is massively appreciated (just think of the poor 6 year old guys lol)

This is not precisely the easy way but it should work:

Close all Internet Explorer windows.

Run regedit (Startup, Run..., type regedit.exe and press Enter).

Go to My computer, HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Microsoft, Internet Explorer, Main

In the right panel you will see something called Start Page. Double click on it and type in the start page you want, and press Ok.

Ok, now open Internet Explorer and see what happens.

However it still intrigues me why it doesn't show the tabs in your computer. Also I remember I was once setting up a Vista computer with IE7 installed and it was a pain in the grass to change startup page, proxy and other things...

why don't you have him use firefox? If he is only six he shouldnt really notice the difference adn it is a much safer, and faster browser and does not have all the problems of ie (however ie7 is much better than ie6 was)

Thanks for that info, because I'm not a registry person. I've fiddled with it, but I don't make a habit of doing to much. Too easy to mess things up.

I won't profess to having problems with IE7 Setup, but I haven't had to do anything fancy with IE/Firefox settings since I stopped using dial-up. Defaults have worked fine with networking and browsing.

Yeah, i did that today, I thought it would be an easy fix but it wasn't and i got carried away trying to get it to work haha.
