[help]32-bit Icons In W2k?
i dont know if you can in 2000...
change the color to the highest 32 bit in the settings tab of the display properties...not sure if it works though...
there isnt any known way of doing so, but im sure replacing a lot of files in 2k with XP ones will do it ![]()
but that will also make your w2k half of XP, which defeats the purpose of using 2k at all :S
so stay with the ugly icons, or install the goddamn slow XP ![]()
i chose the second option ![]()

I don't know why you say XP is slow.
I have an XP machine at home,
--Self-built
--AthlonXP 1500 (1.33Ghz)
--320Mb SDram
--80GB HD
and a Win2K box at work.
--Dell Dimension
--P4 1.8Ghz
--512MB SDram
--60GB HD
My XP box is at least as fast compared to my W2K box at work!!!
Plus (a thing I like) it takes less than a minute to boot, when W2K takes
just over 2.
And thats with all the little windows customizing progs that I don't have at work!
when you get a brand new computer (with xp) the first couple times it boots, it should only take 16 SECONDS to boot, now thats quick!!!
Thats what I'm trying to say. ![]()
With all the customizing progs I have, it takes XP between 45 and 55 seconds to boot.
My Win2K box at work has nothing set to run at startup and takes 2min + to boot!
Not to mention it is newer, higher Mhz, and has more ram than my XP comp. ![]()
XP wins hands-down in my book! ![]()
XP comes with a lot of crap that makes it slow, if you disable all of it it will be as fast as win2k, but as ugly as well
(Y) msconfig is your friend
You can use 32bit icons in Win2k but there is no alpha blending. So alll those nice smooth edges get the jaggies and shadows look bad. And no there is no way to fix this. It a system level thing. So if you want the 32bit alpha blended icons you gotta move up to XP.
