Networking Tiger and XP SP2; used to play nice.

I don't know what happened. I have my computers networked to each other, in-fact they are on adjacent tables, wired to the same router. And it worked perfectly for a good 4 months. Then, I created another shared folder so another account could use (different purposes), and I also upgraded to 10.4.11 in the meantime. I don't know if this is the problem, and I went for a bout a month's period without connecting them, so I am sure there are a lot of things I did that I cannot recall to reverse, but now both of my computers cannot see each other. However, iTunes can see each other's libraries when both are open. I am not the brightest guy when it comes to networking, so I may have some difficulty understanding some things you will throw at me.

As far as I can remember, I just shared a folder on Windows XP, and OS X saw it, connected, and viola. Now, I can't get the computers to see each other, though can connect to web-servers via IP.

Thanks for any help.

Be sure that all computers are on the same workgroup, I recommend MSHOME.

then in Finder, press AppleKey + K . Then on the Smb share window that comes up, hit browse.

Hopefully you know what to do from there....and if not....well....just say so ;).

I share folders between my Mac and my Wintel machines all the time, and worked splendid for me.

Also; upgrade to SP3 while you're at it...;)
