Yep, time for one of my dream threads.
Perhaps its too early to start this thread, seeing as its on January 14 but...
Airport
A new mid-range airport model will be released that has a built in ADSL modem, USB device support.
It will operate on 108 G+ standard (above airport express, yet below airport extreme). It will have two ethernet ports.
iPhone release in Australia
will be released in Australia and Vodaphone (not Telstra) will be its carrier. Telstra has previously downplayed the iPhone, and Vodaphone's 3G network is the second largest and is rapidly expanding.
iPhone with 3G support.
Yep I only just learnt what 3G was... but everybody has been demanding it, apple will do it.
iPhone Updates
iPhone will recieve a suite of new programs (both free and for purchase), to expand its functionality.
New software SDK will be shown off, and new third party developers announced.
iMac update
- Speed will be updated in 20 inch model.
- 24" iMac will get a dual drive option
Macbook update
- New 13" inch aluminium shell model will be announced, it will more or less be like the black version (better specs) in order to be brought into line with rest of apple range/style.
-White will be discontinued.
- Black will accomadate the lower end models.
Mac Mini media center
This will be the showstopper:
Due to failing sales of both iTV and Mac Mini units...
iTV will be discontinued.
Mac Mini will take on board iTV functionality (streaming), it will include a DVD player/recorder, a large hard drive (160gb +) a stripped down OSX (frontrow), and best of all a built in digital TV tuner.
record, play, stream. It will cost $850.
It will be the one unit to replace all others in the lounge room. it will Not include a mouse, but instead an innovative hybrid wireless keyboard/ remote.
Will support HDMI, AV and Component. Will have an intuitive AV switcher (between consoles etc).
HD/Blue ray combo drive will be an option, but not immediately.
One lower end mac mini will still be offered for $450 that does not include media center funcitonality, for users who want to buy a mac but dont want to spend the world. It will be primarily marketed as the cheapest mac.
Two Mac Mini types (media center and non) will be renamed in order to make clear thier differences.
