Leopard Hell!

I installed Leopard quite a while back on my MacBook Pro.

After the 10.5.1 update I finally decided to download, Finder would hang at boot, thus just giving me a white wallpaper and a blank menubar.

Help? :(

*cough* illegal *cough*

Illegal? what are you talking about?

#481885

@BapeStar: how is it illegal? He installed it on his MBP.

@Phantom: you should try reinstalling it...

eek. That's the whole thing I wanted to avoid :(.

Because if I reinstall, then I need to hook it up to an external enclosure and it would take a long time to restore all my stuff :slant:

Did you do Time Machine backups? Just pop the Leopard DVD in and restore from the Time Machine backup.

Wow I'm surprised I didn't think of this before hand! Thanks a load Paralex!

All I had to do was hook up my external and use my Leopard DVD to fix everything...

Now let's see if it'll run the update again >_>'

So um....I'm an idiot.

When you hold down the option key when you boot, there is a lock and I do not know the password. AFAIK, this is the firmware password...

Anybody know of any way to reset the password??? I tried changing the RAM amount...

Pleeeease, I can't boot to the CD without it :-(

There shouldn't be a password if you never set one...did you try the administrator password?

Also, see if this has a solution: http://www.securemac.com/openfirmwarepasswordprotection.php

(Looks like you need to reset your PRAM after changing the RAM amount)

-NC

Yep, tried that. Still no joy.

I took it to the Genius Bar. Turns out I have a bad logic board.

Oh well, I guess I can wait 7-10 days.

Grr, I still have to reinstall Leopard again >_>

Thanks everyone!

Ahh yes, got my baby back today. So happy with the results. Got Tiger 10.4.11 installed, and everything is now working beautifully. Now to update to Leopard!
