Some beginner AveDesk instruction

Hey people :)

I want to ask all u specialists to kindly give me some kind of full instruction, how to set up AveDesk, so that it fits my demand a much as (I think) a lot of beginner'S demands.

What I want is that if i move my mouse to the upper right corner, A new, partly transparent layer appears over the desktop / over windows or which application ever in general, and shows me the information, that i want in nice-looking widgets (calculator, weather forecast, stock charts, cpu usage meter ....)

When i click into some space between the widgets or press i.e. Esc, the layer incl. all the widgets disappears...

What I know is, that there is this kind of ShowCase, which is exactly like the layer I am talking about. Call me stupid, if i didn't see how to activate it easily, but the only way that I found out, how to start ShowCase is using a link on AveDesk with a command line extension.... And I additionally couldn't figure out, how to move widgets into the showcase, so that that just appear and disappear with that showcase....

I think, I found some explanations how to make showcase appear, when the mouse is put into some special far corner, but (sorry) I really doidn't understand that. I'm like a child according to this....

Please, can someone give a child-conform instruction???

Thanks a lot.

In the desklet properties, change the style to showcase, save,

than hit F8, you can change the hotkey in global settings

wow, that was quick!

thanks!

furthermore, I really sent this message before checking out everything, so I already found out, how to move deskjets into the ShowCase. (But still, thank u Davidsword for the explanation)

So, the remaing problem is:

How can I make Showcase appear, when I move my mouse to the far upper right corner?

Ans in general: Would u recommend to use 1.3 or the 2.0 Beta ??

Which one is more stable?

{{EDIT}}

And how do I configure the deskjets?

Like changing the displayed location in AH'S weather widget

or like changing the checked Stock course?

or changing colors and other options?????

Well i just have one question to add... please:

I only use AveDesk for Mac-styled icons (For Dashboard i use Yahoo! WE)

But i'd like to know if there's any form to show non True-Type fonts properly, 'cause everytime i try to set up a non TT font (let's say... LucidaMacBold, which is great) i only get an Arial-looking text... so it don't displays the font!

P.S.: Same for Photoshop (It doesn't shows LucidaMacBold on my fonts list, which is a pity...)

Font is .pfm, and i dunno how to convert it (for free... lol)

I would also like to know if this is possible to do or does Avedesk only is able to use TTF. Thanks...

1.3 is obviously more stable since 2.0 is in beta(although v. 2 fixes a couple of bugs).... like dashboard(the mac widget engine if you don't know) usually there is a flip in the lower right corner of the desklet when you click it the desklet would flip and the settings stuff will be there.... there is also a hue/sat option in all desklets if you right click>Desklet Properties>Advanced Tab>Colorize(check the checkbox) then use the sliders to change it(note this applys to the whole desklet)... as for non-ttf fonts the only way is to convert them to ttf.... get a demo/trial ver of the converter if you must then convert them while you still can XD

Heres a question for you to,

I want to be able to click on a link on my desktop to open the Showcase - but for the life of me I can't work out how I would go about doing that

you can just add the argument "-opensc" ( without the quotes obviously) example place

"C:Program FilesAveDeskAVEDESK.EXE" -opensc

at the target of the shortcut or if your using a dock shortcut usually there is an argument box so just place

C:Program FilesAveDeskAVEDESK.EXE as the target and -opensc as the argument
