Difference between combo drive and double layer superdrive?
double layer super drive means it can write to dual layer DVD's i think :slant:, which means more data.
A Combo drive is a drive that combines CD-R/CD-RW recording capability with the ability to read DVD media. It's Apple Computer term for the low-end, superDrive is higher end.
And a double layer drive is a drive that could read dual layer dics which contains more data ( like 8.5 GB dics) <==still expensive.
so in order to be able to burn dvds i need to get the double layer superdrive? Which would mean the midline 1299 macbook.
A superdrive would do it

Correct..... unless you consider a combo drive MacBook and attaching an external dvd burner.
No, i'll probably just go with the $200 extra and get the larger hdd, faster processor, adn a dvd burner. Thanks for all your help
