I'm sorry but these are ads are becoming boring. I loved them to start with, all cutting edge comedy, but it's just not funny any more. ![]()
Come on you over paid ads guys think of something new for a change, MS bashing is like shooting fish in a barrel. ![]()
Welcome to the business world. You can't blame them for trying to knock off the competition, Apple is growing and trying to get in the game. Yeah, a lot of people don't like Vista and wish they could get XP as an alternative on their new PCs. But, this is a perfect opportunity to convert a lot of Vista-haters to Macs.

I'm going to take a page from rjohnstone's book: BS!
Vista is a solid operating system. I've been using it since May. Maybe the people complaining about Vista aren't that bright to begin with. Sure Vista isn't perfect, but at least Microsoft doesn't act like it's the second coming with each release. Plus Vista plays nice with University networks. Leopard doesn't.
Apple is good on it's own merits. It doesn't have to bash Microsft to gain market share. Apparently, with all of the innovations, Microsoft is beating them by simply ignoring them. I don't don't see Microsoft bashing Apple in their commercials.
Apple, Grow Up!
Yeah, Microsoft was so humble with the whole "the Wow is Now" campaign. Not to mention the four pallets of merchandizing (and just merchandizing) sent to every store selling Vista a week before launch. I know this, I worked at CompUSA before they closed down.Sure Vista isn't perfect, but at least Microsoft doesn't act like it's the second coming with each release.
Mac OS X, the OS for dummies? OK, I'll settle for that. I spent my years up to my early 20's messing with Windows, and I just got to the point which I don't care how many features it has, or what options I can do; I just want the friggin' thing to run to get work done. It took me a half an hour to figure out that Microsoft brilliantly moved the add icons to desktop to a redundant sidebar in the Personalize dialog instead of with the other options in Vista so I could add My Network, My Documents and My Computer to the desktop, oh, sorry, I mean Network, Documents and Computer :slant: .I've been using it since May. Maybe the people complaining about Vista aren't that bright to begin with.
Maybe, but to the end user, most of the changes in Vista (and Office 07 for that matter) is just moving things around, to further confuse the {dumb} user.Vista is a solid operating system.
No, it doesn't have to, but that is the route the marketing team is going. It doesn't have to bash Microsft to gain market share.
How can you even say this? We don't even know the numbers for the holidays, yet. Sales of Leopard have been holding near, but under, Vista's, starting with each of the product's launch. And given that Microsoft has significantly more marketshare than Apple, I would hardly call Microsoft "beating" Apple, since Apple has gained significantly from previous OS releases.Apparently, with all of the innovations, Microsoft is beating them by simply ignoring them.
Yep, Microsoft really sees Apple's 8% marketshare a big enough threat to spend millions of dollars in an ad campaign directed to a relatively small company.I don't don't see Microsoft bashing Apple in their commercials.
I'll give you Office 07. With any indication, Microsoft is moving that direction with Office for Mac 2008. The ribbon is odd at first, but you surprisingly adjust to it pretty quick.
There's certainly no "Wow" with Leopard. It's warmed over Tiger. It looks better, added a few bells and whistles Windows & Linux have had for years. It certainly isn't as great as they hyped it. Those resources wasted on the slow selling iPhone could have been put to better use at the OS unit.
I've only had one really bad experience with Windows. Millenium Edition was a POS, and I should have never upgraded the machine from 98 to it. Windows 2000 would have been a better move.
It's true. Microsoft isn't obsessed with Apple's market share. Hence, they don't waste advertising dollars on "Apple Bashing" ads. Apple, on the other hand, is running commericials (sometimes funny ones at that) stretching the truth (or outright lying) about Windows and it's "issues." Windows will have issues as long as it has to contend with 5 major computer makers, and do-it-yourself pc builders.
Window isn't perfect. Microsoft employees admit this.
Guys, Apple aren't allowed to lie in their commercials because its against the law. This is the same with any commercial. You can't say that Apple are lying because if they were then Microsoft could take them to court. If Apple were lying then I am sure that Microsoft would have taken them to court by now.
Simple as.

No.
In the commercials they never declare thats its a Microsoft product or Windows software. They only say Vista , PC & OS. Thats how they're getting away with it, not because "its the truth". 'Vista' can be anything its all viewer interpretation/assumption.
(I'm going to watch some videos to make sure I'm not talking out of my ass:P)
hah. see all the ads here : http://movies.apple.com/getamac/ads/all saying how stupid vista is lol
Which all show just how childish and immature Apple really is. If these commercials have nothing better to do than bash Vista, it only goes to show you how worried they are about the competition. After all, if Vista was as horrible as they lead us to believe, why are so obsessed with it? You'd think they'd want to let their products do the talking, but with all the issues that Leopard has been having as of late, maybe not...
Does anyone know how marketing and advertising works?

I agree these ads are kinda stupid, but they make their point. They would let their products do the talking, though the original mentality behind these ads is that the general public is simply uneducated about Macs. Of course they're worried about the competition, Apple has been and still is the little guy trying to defeat Goliath.
When you're the little guy, you have to come out and give people reasons to buy your product instead of what they've always been buying. Most people just buy another Windows machine when their old one dies out of habit. Unless someone comes along and shows them what Macs are like, they're not going to have a reason to think about anything other than a Windows machine. It's usually not because they've seen/used Macs and decided against them. You can't make a decision if you don't know what the choices are.
I think they're overdoing it with the constant vista bashing... they should do something better like say why mac's are better for example except "GIVE UP ON VISTA" and then show a picture of a mac.....
the commercials used to be funny, but now they are just boring and really stretch the truth about how bad windows is.
Thumbs down on Apple's new set of comercials. Primarily, becuase they aren't true. I've had a virtually flawless experience on Vista. My troubles get started in XP. To compound this, I've had even more trouble out of Tiger. Beachballs anyone? Kernel Panics? One-Button Mouse?! (okay, that one's a joke...an unfunny one at that)I haven't used Leopard, so I'll reserve my opinions until I use it.
so after how many months, and your are still telling me you are happy with windows vista...
I use to love pc, even was a beta tester, and a MSDN member.
After the final release of vista, we upgraded all 5 our of pcs/laptops to windows vista.
after 3 months of running the OS, it slowed down to the speed of a 600mzh computer. We tried to fix the problem, but then the network started acting up for no reason.
After dealing with it for 4 months, we threw out all of our PC crap including networking, and windows mobile cellphones, and got 2 mac books, 2 iphones, 1 apple server, and the networking equipment.
This set us back, it was very expensive to make the move, but after we did it, all the way up to today, we are more then glad we made the switch.
No problems, no spyware, nothing...
don't even have to buy crapy software subscriptions to solve the problems windows has.
So, before you say you have had no problem, or worries with windows in any shape for or matter, think about it. Think about all the times you had to mess around with settings and software just to make it work. (How much time you have wasted)
