Web Site Icons

Hey all,

I'm hoping that someone out there might be able to point me in the right direction. The company I work for (where I am a developer) writes business/financial based software. Part of my development is coming up with GUI design...but given development deadlines and all that sort of junk, the one thing that seems to get left behind is really good and unique icon design.

I wish I had the time to design appropriate system/business/financial icons for our applications - but I don't.

So, I'm wondering if anyone out there can point me to a commercial site that has royality free icons that are a little 'different' - but still functional.

I can Google away from hours - but the links that tend to get the most hits have what I consider to be rather vanilla icons.

Any suggestions would be appreciated - and feel free to plug your own site if you want!

Thanks

Do you mean freeor royalty free?

Most commercial sites charge only once for the set with no royalties; so, by definition the icons are royalty free.

I meant royality free. We're happy to pay for the icons (the once only charge).

After looking at various sites it does surprise me the variance between pricing. Some sites charge under $100 for a decent enough set (around 50 icons), where as others want around $300. In my opinion those sets often aren't three times as good.

Yeah, I agree with you. Some of the less expensive sets don't always have the quality of detail.

Good sets for under $100 can be found but, they are usually one fixed size.

It really depends on your requirements. IMO it's worthwhile to get a more expensive vector set because of the options you have.

Some of the top developers are Iconfactory, Yellow Icon, and Enhanced Labs. Icon-Shock also has some nice Financial Industry sets as well.

Thanks for those links.

That Icon-Shock site has some pretty good sets at a good price. They look like they might fit our needs.

And I totally agree with paying more to get the vector set, I can see that paying off in the long run.
