i HAVE to use win2000 in my office, but i wan t to have the ClearType Font in it?

Thats retarded. Everything and anything from Microsoft should be available on all the Operating Systems that are still Supported.
Windows NT, Me, 9x, I can understand, considering they are no longer supported. But 2000 should be; because last I checked, Windows 2000 was still under the supported category in Microsoft's eyes.
AFAIK Windows 2000 hasn't been supported by Microsoft for a while now.

Ah, well then I stand corrected.
I was under the impression that Win2000 was still supported; and that only Windows Me and Windows 98 were no longer supported.
Ya its very true its not being supported by Microsoft anymore. But this is redikulous..isnt it?????????? Previous versions of any software must be supported as in the case of Linux, Mac etc
Actually, Windows 2000 will be supported up to July 13th, 2010. Only, "support" doesn't mean they are going to add or port any features, just that they will issue security patches or critical updates, and I don't think that Cleartype is any of the two. However, I've always been happy with the standard font antialising on 2000, so I won't miss it that match.
On the other hand, I also feel that Microsoft is trying to push this half-baked Vista by making features available only on this platform. The DirectX 10 and "Games for windows" example comes to my mind - Vista was soooo necessary that people managed to play Dx10 games on XP, with actually better performance. Or tablet handwriting recognition.
And best of all, Internet Explorer 7, that you can only install on Vista or XP-SP2, and could probably run without problems on 2000....
Here's a new version of SmoothText. this program performs subpixel antialiasing on Windows 2000. It's not quite ClearType™, but it isn't bad. This version has some bugfixes that make it pretty usable.http://www.savefile.com/files/1182262
Savefile deletes inactive files after 30 days, so get it while it's hot.
Known bugs:
- Typing text in Firefox sometimes draws the text a bit too wide.
- Some characters in certain font+size combinations show up blank (a bug in how Windows does hinting I think)
