Apple's MacBook and MacBook Pro quietly updated

The rumors were rampant about the pending upgrade; now the deal is done. The Apple MacBook has finally moved to the Santa Rosa architecture with a healthy GMA X3100 video bump from the lethargic GMA 950 of yore. Available now starting at $1,099 for the 13-inch, 80GB, 2GHz white model on up to $1,499 for the 160GB, 2.2GHz black variety of hard-posing laptop.

Update: The MacBook Pro can now be configured with an optional 2.6GHz Core 2 Duo for a $250 premium over the previous 2.4GHz flag-ship configuration.

nice find.

This is the new macbooks we have spoken in the rumor thread? If yes, I will quickly buy it.

Well it's not exactly like the rumors ranted about. There's no metal...still black or white plastic. There's no touch screen. What other rumors were running ramped?

I'd call it an unannounced minor upgrade of the video and processor. If I had a MacBook already (which I do) I wouldn't rush out and purchase this thinking it's unbelievably better (which I won't).

But it is however a nice uplift of the MacBook without raising prices and it does have Leopard inside.

Thanks Apple! :)

They probably quietly upgraded it to avoid stamping on Leopard's parade.

Why now? Why after I get my MacBook with a GMA950 core?! :(

Well all you buying it now are going to have a ball, congratulations!

That's why when it comes to Apple products, you wait to buy it within a month or two of an update. 'Cause there's no rush, and you just can't go wrong.

I didn't buy it, my university gave it to me at half price.

Like they say, don't look a gift horse in the mouth :)

And I got it in September, lets see what can be done :P

Question : when will come the REAL big update? Have a look on this : http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#MacBook_Pro

If I count good, the next update of MBP will come in ... 31 days. I can't wait so long. My very old laptop begin to have more and more serious problems (the keyboard is dead, I have to use an external PS/2, alimentation input is fragile, the system bug regulary when I want to put it in in deep sleep mode...) :(.

Can't wait more...
