Recently, I've lost interest in Vista, and grew tired of it. So, I did a full backup and reformatted to install XP Pro.
So, I install XP, install my drivers, get all the updates, and restore my backed up files. Welp, I decide to call it a night.
I go and lock my session. Shut the lid, g'night.
Next morning, I wake up, open my lid, and see a horrific display of 800x600 (native res is 1280x800). I type in my password, and I go into Display Properties. It still says 1280x800, but it's clearly 800x600. I slide it to 1280x768, then back to 1280x800, and hit Apply. Okay, back to my normal res. Nice.
So, without locking my computer, I shut my lid again. Open it back up after 20 or so seconds. Its fine.
I assume "huh...must've been Windows acting up."
I lock my computer again. Shut the lid.
Out of curiosity, I open it back up a few minutes later. It's still back at 800x600!
After fiddling with it for about a half hour I've come to the conclusion that it only happens when I lock my session.
Here are my specs for this machine:
Dell Inspiron 1501
15.4" 1280x800 Display
ATI Radeon Xpress
AMD Sempron 1.8GHz
