[Info] Deskblox
Interesting... Thanks for the link! Have you tried it yet? If so, how good is it?
This is garbage, it has potential, but where it stands right now it is pretty much a resource hogging junk heap in the computer. Glitchy as all heck.
:dr_evil: load up the site and then load up the konfabulator site... notice anything ie. virtually a one to one copy?
then go into their forums and read the "Rape" thread, pretty interesting, especially all the app claims made... seems like the sort of attitude which would p off some of the app developers at this site.
looks like it has potential, but the rape thread definitely left a bad taste in my mouth
Me, i'm still waiting for konfabulator to be made for pc...
correct me if i'm wrong but maybe this thread should be moved to the rip thread.
You're probably better off running Samurize. :canadian:
Hi,
DesktopX was the father of all of these sorts of program as far as I can tell.
DesktopX--->Samurize--->Serious Samurize---DesktopX2
--->Konfabulator
--->Super Karumba
--->DeskBlox
It's not a rip, it's evolution.

The Linux version is crap.
The widgets tend to die when moved.
The Windows version is actually pretty nice.
The weather widget is AMAZING! :woot:
I mean, look at all the work we had to do for Samurize Weather, and this does even more out of the box.

Sorry, but no. If this person was a member who was distributing in the forums, it might be a different matter. But since these people have nothing to do with this site, there would be no point in posting notice of a 'rip'.

...corrected :shy:
Looks good
you know what?
All you naysayers can hush.
This is only version 1.0. I see GREAT things coming out of this.
I'm using it.
Duckie,
Normally I dont complain about things, I am always willing to try out new things on my computer, if they are glitchy that is fine. My problem with this place breaks down like this.
1) this person has a link to actually charge people for this software, It is a cool prog, but come on, would you charge people for buggy beta versions of yout software (if anyone mentions MS, Im going home heheh)
2) I dl'ed it, installed it, and it didnt work, no listing of sys requirements, no help file nothing, It was only after digging through the site, that i found the problem.
3) The widgets themselves, certainly have potential, and it is exciting to see something like this FINALLY coming out, but again, too many glithces, and peformance issues for me. At one point with the weather widget running the program was sucking 95000k now that is just a little too much dont ya think?If you click the purchase link on the site, somwhere in ther text it says that they will update the software once per year. Now I'm sorry, but if you are attemptimg to make money off of something, you better be ready to support the heck out of it, and make sure it runs the best it can. The only widget I found to not be soo glitchy is the nixie clock, everything has redraw problems and things like that.
I will say it again, I am never against someone trying something out, but when I uses this prog, I feel like if was half heartedly thrown together, and if the guy spent more time coding his work, other than plugging his site to members of his site, this app could be great.
sorry bout the rant
I downloaded it to try out and it is very glitchy for me too, the weather widget works fine for a few minutes then gets garbled. The clock is worse than the transparent clock posted here and Rainlendar is a better calendar, especially with Grussic's skins. ![]()
I agree it has potential to be a cool app, but this is way too 'beta' and buggy to be for sale. It needs some serious luvin' in the code department and there are precious few widgets for it. When it matures some more and has some of the above issues resolved it may prove to be a cool little app. As it stands I'm uninstalling it. <_<

Hey, Grusic (or anyone else)
Please excuse my ignorance...
What is "Super Karumba"?
This may have potential. For now, still buggy and what I didn't like about it is that it uses fake transparency. In the meantime, the beta version of DesktopX 2 is working incredibly well for me. I've got all kinds of widgets and even several fish swimming on my screen with very few system resources.
Still, if DeskBlox can pull of using widgets made for Konfabulator, that would be something to look forward to.
