Hello, this will be my new thread I guess.
Hello, this will be my new thread I guess. My friend is a Mac Book Pro owner. The thing is he likes to customize it a lot, so he goes around the internet now and then hunting for some sweet looking icons. So he downloads the ones he likes. Let’s say he got a nice Firefox icon in a PNG format. PNGs make good icons since they accept transparency. When he applies the icon to a folder or to an application the picture gets an ugly black or white bg instead of the original transparent icon. This doesn’t always happen some PNGs work the way they should but some don’t.
Could you please tell me how to fix this problem? Or at least tell me what’s going on. Also I would like to know what file types work good as an icon.
So far I know the following should work as icons and that accept transparency as well:
• PNGs: should work well. I don’t know why they aren’t working.
• Icns: Should work well
• Ico: Crappy looking but work, right?
So what are the Mac friendly icon files that should work correctly?
Thanks!
