What Should The Default Skin For Namp Be?

We are considering another skin as the default for nAMP in an effort to avoid issues with Apple Legal.

Any pics to help decide.. if not probably aqua.

I vote Milk. The default look for nAMP is going to be moving away from openly iTunes, and even OS X in general. Apple has stopped developement on programs before because they used the Aqua interface, and I think that making the default skin for nAMP something that Apple has never used before - like Milk - will be a step in the right direction.

In addition, I've been speaking with Vladimir regarding what will be, in effect, an extension to the nAMP skinning engine. This extension will allow a skinner to not only 'skin' the application, but define their own songlist and sourcelist controls, create more than one status window, and apply their own equilizer effects using DirectSound (thus, the equilizer will no longer be limited to entries such as 'jazz' and 'rock' but include environments such as 'cathedral' and 'disco club'). While such an extension is still a ways down the road, it's still exciting to think about.

Vladimir has also been nudging me to make it less iTunes-ish by default, and when I mentioned the idea of skinning nAMP in Milk to Duckie, he said he was already working on one. Obviously, great minds think alike.

It will be a simple process to replace the default skin with another one of Duckie's most excellent creations. You'll still be able to skin nAMP to look like iTunes - but by default, it won't be a direct copy.

I think Mr. Aqua is pretty wise in his Savanna suite apps - they all come as Luna by default (or at least the ones I've seen). That's a thought - plus, iTunes in a Luna style would be a funny (although pathetic) sight to behold...

tho you may be trying to avoid issues with apple, I still think you shouldnt losae focus on iTunes functionality and usabiulity before you start going in a Windows direction.

hmm.. actually, if milk wasnt one of the choices, i would have voted for luna :lol:

that would be awesome to see, although weird. :lol: but it would be a big slap in the face to aqua lovers <_<

i doubt apple would lunarize their products, even if it is for XP. Doing so would degrade their trademark look. IF anything, the skin would come out a brutal brushed version with min/max/close buttons like QT.
