Avedesk + Avescripter

im writing here to finally find a solution to the problem I have on my computer since I have installed Avedesk on my desktop.

I installed it, it works fine and it looks very nice and cool, but since I installed it I have RAM problems. First of all, windows explorer sucks much more memory than before, but still is acceptable (between 20 and 50 mb). The real problem is when I launch Photoshop CS2: it starts with 80 mb (normal for Photoshop) but then each photo I open with PS , it takes 50 mb RAM each, or more. And normally with 3-4 photos open, the memory reaches 400 or 500 mb. The weird thing is that once you close ALL the photos (and then PS is just an open application without photos, which should take back the 80 mb RAMs) PS still takes 500mb!!! And it doenst decrease. It is like once it reaches a certain memory usage (300mb or 200mb) even if you close all the photos you are working on, still the allocated RAM is the same you would have with the 3-5 photos open! Everything goes back once you close PS (the RAM usage decreases)

I tried to uninstall Avedesk but it doesnt the job.

Anyone can help me? I have a perfectly tuned PC and I dont want to format it :-!

Since I don't have PS what was the usage before installing AveDesk? What's the time frame you're giving PS to readjust it's usage. It won't instantaneously appear. Also, the varying size of the photos is going to cause significant changes.

With the GIMP I know that after heavy usage without AveDesk running it takes some time to readjust down and if it's a big issue I run a memory cleaner.

Graphics programs are heavy users. Oh, and what's your virtual memory set at? "Perfectly tuned PC" is subjective at best.

IMO it's not AveDesk causing these issues.

I don't think it's Avedesk or Avescripter,Avedesk is known to be one of the most memory safe widget engine, What deklets do you have running? I have a pc which is about 1.04GHz and 256mb Ram and it runs Avedesk with Avescripter smoothly. Maybe you installed other some memory hogging program that day. How big is the size of the picture your editing in PS anyway?

thanks for coming back to me :-)

I have Avedesk installed on my laptop as well (an old Dell), and it works smoothless. It is only my desktop that went crazy :-(

Anyway, I will check at home if there is any other application I installed that day, but i dont think so: I liked so much the Avedesk application that I was really into it and nothing else mattered

Desklets: im running AH's-Calendar and Clock from Avescripter. And I used the hidedesktopicons.aveinst thing. I have read somewhere that this might be related to my problem (somewhere: aqua-soft forum)

The PS ram usage before the Avedesk installation was between 100 and 400 mb: but then once you closed the photos in PS, it was normal again (60-100 mb, thats it)

Is there any desklet that might cause this kind of problem? Maybe automounter.aveinst ?

PS: the images I opened in PS are 2-5 mb photos, thats it. I used to work years with those photos without having any problem.

right now I don't think it's the desklets... in fact I have those deklets + more running right now while using photoshop and no ram problems at all...what version is your photoshop? but with 2-5mb photos i doubt that's the problem either...

I have PS CS2 and so far no problem at all.

Hi,

it is evident in PS, but no, it happens with other applications as well.

It is like the Ram goes up and even if the application you use is only in stand by without any photo/song/worksheet , still the Ram is at very high levels. The problem will disappear if you close the application itself.

I don't think I can help you... the only possibilities is... you have a virus in your system.... your system had some settings reconfigured.... or hardware problems

it seems you were right: when i installed avedesk i installed a new version of Acrobat reader too: this started a non better precised Adobelm_Cleanup.0001 process that kills my computer and my PS. I will figure out a way to get rid of it.
