I use AveDesk1.3 in an entirely showcase configuration. Everything's set to show up with the showcase. When I hit F11 to show the showcase (the key I have it set to), the window I'm on loses focus, but nothing shows up. When I mouse over the tray icon it disappears and avedesk is gone...
This only happens after the program's been sitting for a few minutes, if I'm constantly doing things with it or opening and closing the ShowCase, everything works fine.
Any ideas?
What desklets and/or SysStat configs?
AveScripter with 4 scripts (I-Status, Calendar, Digital Clock, AH's-Weather), Calculator, Whiteboard, AveTunes, StickyNotes, Translator, Unit Converter

Try upgrading to 2.0. It may be a beta but, it's fairly stable.
does this happen when you right click the tray icon then click open showcase?
@SirSmiley: Yeah... I already tried it and it completely wiped out my settings and profiles, I may just have just not copied something right, I'll try 2.0 later.
@g510: idk, I haven't tried yet, but one of the times it froze I tried right clicking on the tray icon and just the action of right clicking on it made it crash.
Edit: Yep, I can right click on the icon, but clicking when I click showcase nothing happens until I put my mouse over the tray icon again and it disappears.

I upgraded to 2.0 and it still crashes.
Maybe try backing up your stuff and starting over with a clean install? Make sure you delete C:Documents and SettingsZipwayApplication DataAveDesk.

Some suggestions. Make sure your DirectX and Windows Script host are up-to-date but, first create a new blank theme and set it up the way you want. Save it, restart AveDesk.
I'm thinking the theme you're using may be corrupted.
Did you try the NC's suggestion of a clean install?
try using a different activation key.... i doubt it has anything to do with the video card since it only stops working after a while and not always....
Well I pretty much did the clean install when I installed 2.0, I'm not sure how much cleaner it can be than installing a different version... except I suppose I should DL 1.3 again for all the extra stuff that has to be copied to 2.0...
This whole thing is really annoying... because I've tried for years to find something with widgets for XP that works... and every one has failed...
If you have a DESKLET that is doing lots of updates (Clock for example) and that desklet is in SHOWCASE mode. (HIDDEN) . It will crash when showcase is enabled. I've traced the problem to be in avedesk, which Avedesk traced it to be in DirectX.. Something to do with "Pending" updates that gets triggered to do all the changes on showcase and them crashes.
Make sure that you have the latest version of avescripter, there was a bug I fixed a few versions ago that had to do with HyperThreading.
