Share your QTTabBar & QTAddressBar Tips

Quite a few of us here seem to be avid users of these nice additions to the Explorer gui.

Hopefully people would like to share some tips including but, not limited to skinning, customizing, hacks, etc.

Here is my gem from today.

By placing an "&" sign in front of a specific letter you will be able to launch an Application or Folder group directly from the keyboard.

Using Alt+U to launch the application menu or Alt+G to launch the Folder Groups menu then type your letter to launch it.

I really like the new plug-in that allows you to change folder views by holding down: CTRL + Mouse wheel. I also appreciate that the view toolbar button always has film view as an option to select.

I've been a huge fan of the filter-box from day one and with the now even more accessible shortcut editor, filtering is just a matter of CTRL+S to focus the search box. Nice!

I also can't wait to see what types of plugins will come.

Have you by chance, created any new skins for QTTabbar? I noticed one of your posts in another thread seem to imply you've been experimenting with PNG usage. I've been looking for skins for this but haven't been able to find a forum for this app, besides this website:

Haven't got back to it but, for the Button Bar there's a tango theme at deviantart and for tabs Raats has done a few.

I think the Tango theme's now integrated with the app.

Thanks for the heads up though~ I really would be interested in seeing some nice tab skins being made for this app though.

Skinning the button bar as well as the tabs is actually a lot easier than it may seem at first. Just find one of your old Yz Toolbar/Styler skins and opportunistically cut and paste in the images using the default button bar png as your base. Resident member Thewer made a really nice and minimalistic skin available here.

If you're a lazy bastard like me, finding skins for your tabs is pretty easy as well. Every visual style has its own. I lifted/rearranged the one below from the fantabulous Lorca VS, using the following sizing margins: 4; 10; 4; 1.

I just realized that the latest version of QT Tab Bar doesn't include any skins by default. Did you remember to download the Skin images pack from here?

I did download the skin pack but it was when the skin pack was first separated from the main program. Maybe more were added since? And thanks for sharing your tab image and settings
