Hi there, I'm a noob looking for some help,
Does anyone know of a plug-in that will let me use the media buttons on my Dell Inspiron 640m with the latest version of iTunes (7.4.2 I think?)?
I had and old multi-plugin from iTunes 6 or something that I tried to use but then I couldn't open iTunes until I uninstalled it.

I don't think an itunes plugin will help. Use the drivers/apps that came with the hardware. I don't have a Dell Inspiron so I can't say exactly, but I have a Logitech keyboard with multimedia buttons and I had to use the Logitech drivers to configure those...
its about 2 threads above you in this forum, its called "global multimedia keys". take the file out of the zip, and paste it into %appdata%Apple ComputeriTunesiTunes Plug-ins (type the address into the address bar of any folder window)
Even in that thread, Localhost has mentioned that it can't replace your drivers...
You'll need the HID Input service running along with the plugin to get the basic media playback keys working.
