There's a rumor going around that Apple will unveil new Mac Pros and Cinema Displays at Macworld 2008.

The Mac Pros will continue to be in the aluminum casing, but processor, RAM and hard drive will be inproved:

That's a pretty well-equipped Mac Pro for only $2000.

2x 3.0GHz woodcrest processors in itself are $2,500 Retail.. and has been for the past half year...

Not to mention that server-based components, (dual socket motherboards, FB-DIMMs) usually cost a lot more than typical components.

24 & 30" LED backlit monitors? Only retail LED backlit monitor I've seen so far is Samsung's XL20 which is a 20" standard ratio monitor at 1,500. That means that the lowest-end 24" will most likely start at around $3,000.

Whats with all of these rumors recently?

Those displays do need updating, I saw one at compusa the other day... they're thicker than the imacs... sad

Yes, but the aluminum is beautiful. Make it slimmer, perhaps with slim rectangular buttons going along the side instead of those blasted circles.

If they ditch the aluminum, then I am gonna stick with the current generations.

Unless the rumor about having led backlit displays, and unless they can keep it at a sub-$600 price tag, I'm just gonna try get the current one off ebay when the new one comes out.
