Non-Apple Product Lust!

Ok.... so we as Apple fanboys are always waiting for the next apple product....

often tho, we miss the innovative, well designed, stylish, sleek and smart non-apple products...

so here's your chance.

Seen something apple-esque? ...

I dont want to turn this into an ipod vs the rest thread. just list a product, and 5 reasons why you think its innovative or different.

And perhaps 2 reasons ur staying clear of it (without making direct reference to other products)

I start with the LG "Touch Me"

innovations;

* $299 (AUD same as 4gb nano sorry im comparing ) , for 4gb model.

* Touchscreen interface and well sized screen for player size, well animated.

* The stainless steel back has a cool brushed sperical texture much like a frying pan

* Nice size and shape.

* playback of lots of formats, i mean lots! (photo, video, music, fm radio, voice record)

Aggravations;

* Its an LG, just look at the reliability and usability of thier phones, dvd/hdd players, etc... =not good.

* I dont like software usually dodgily bundled with these other mp3 players... theyre usually an after thought and ur better sticking with windows media player or the like.

Dell XPS m2010

innovations;

* It folds up, combining the practicality of a notebook with the practicality of a desktop.

* Decent horse power 'in the hood'

* Its called a 'showstopper'... ie- it does look kinda cool, would be the ultimate for lanning.

* Built in Webcam etc

* easy to reach ports and disk drive in front of user.

Aggravations;

* Its a Dell, and way overpriced, even considering the innovation and prowess.

* Too big to be a 'business' notebook (it'd make u feel stupid lugging it into the office)

LG HD LCD TV 47LB2DE

innovations;

* It contains a hard drive for recording TV. Very convenient, no need for another external 'box'... one of the few manufacturers to do the integrated HD

* Contains Digital HD Tuner; pick up all HD and digital TV channels (and record of course).

Aggravations;

* Its an LG. lol

* It looks average.

* It has limited hard drive space... I think they have brought out larger capacity versions but it needs more than 300gb in imho.

* Lacks a DVD burner. once content is recorded on the HD, it cant easily be put onto DVD. once they do this, the TV will be the 'Ultimate'.

Boston Acoustics E70

I just bought this for my HDTV setup downstairs. The quality is outstanding, and when put together with a 3500 watt MOOG subwoofer, watching my Blu-Ray Movies is just spectacular.

Whats great about these speakers is that its equipped with dual high power copolymer woofers that provide extended low bass response and increased dynamic range.

Basically, they have their own little subwoofer built in to even further boost the sound quality. Seriously, 1080p + this system = almost-like-you-were-there!

Sony Ericsson S500i

I think this is a little Apple esque. Apple is going for the whole glossy black thing (just look at the iPhone, iPod Touch, new iMac, etc.) I love the looks of this phone, it seems to have good features, and overall seems to be a reasonably priced phone with lots of guts to back up the price. Good on Sony, for once (still bitter about PS3 pricing).

* I own one. honest. Mine's black... the piccy is washed out, its a lot darker, sleeker and sexier, more apple like.

* Almost Symetrical design. yum. its rare in electric guitars and its a nice touch

* Double humbucker pickups

* Awesome crystal clear sounds for blues.... yet excellent pickup for any needed distortion/rock.

* Apple-esque black and neat silver scrachboard, tune heads and volume.

Agravations

* Scratches show up. these babies need care.

* Needs decent amp and foot pedal to do it justice (like any electric) anyone got a suggestion there?

Well, I've got a few. In terms of guitars... well, I've been playing for 13 years. And interestingly, every time I am going into the guitar store, I always magnetize towards this:

It's a Godin Multiac AC Nylon Fretless guitar. These things are amazing. I love them. Next time you go into your local guitar store, see if they have one of these in stock. Start playing it, if they do have one. It takes a bit to get used to the fretless-ness of it, but after that initial learning curve, you'll love it.

More electronicy geeky goodness? OK:

HP 20" glossy widescreen monitor. I love the glossy display in my MacBook Pro (I really do). I was seriously considering getting one of these, but I'm more in the market for a 1920 x 1200 display. Still, it looks a bit like an Apple product. If you squint.

Pros:

Everything you could want in a guitar.

Great looks. Great tone.

The sustainer is the best on the market. Can hold a note or harmonic forever (well, until the batteries die anyway:p) It's also the only 18 volt system on the market.

Fit and finish blow away any production guitar.

Cons:

Only 1... very pricey. List is $2,999.00 US, but you can get them for under $2k if you look hard enough.

* Its the "Apple" of drink advertising- no text, just a cool minimalist design that says everything.

Aggravations

* It just doesnt look 'beefy' or manly anymore. Sugarwater was already a girly enough drink.

* I think they scrapped the new 'thin' coke cans anyway

* No product website (to my knowledge...)

* Unknown brand.
