[info] Procedure To Resize Windows On Borderless..

Hi all,

I have been noticing recently that there has been a lot of confusion/misinformation about the ability to resize windows when using a borderless/0 pixel theme.

It is possible to resize when using a borderless theme but the procedure is a bit different than we may be used to.

I will layout how to do here. It works each and every time.

So without further ado...

Procedure To Resize Windows When Using A Borderless Theme:

The resize thing on a borderless Visual Style takes a little practice as most of us are probably used to grabbing a border with the cursor and dragging it.

I'm using Three Drives borderless mod of KoL's Panther VS at the moment but the following steps I will lay down should apply to any borderless Visual Style.

1.) Right click on the tiny icon in the upper right hand corner of the desired window.

This will drop down a Window Management menu with "Restore, Move, Size" etc etc as its options

2.) Select "Size" on the menu and right click it.

3.) One will notice that the cursor is changed to a four arrow cursor, with arrows pointing up, down, left and right. Also the window that one wants to resize will now have a gray border around in.

4.) Right click and hold down the mouse button while dragging the 4 arrow cursor to the edge of the window and then drag it just a bit beyond.

5.) One will notice that the gray border has now been "captured" by the cursor.

6.) Drag the captured gray border around to represent the area that one will resize the desired window into and release the mouse button to apply the resizing.

And that's it.

As I said earlier, it takes a little practice to get used to, but once one does it several times, it's pretty easy.

i've jumped on the 0pxl bandwagon and find my sole annoyance is resizing windows - its more a pain in photoshop, notsomuch anywhere else.

But i use windowblinds with right click rollup which i don't want to live without (never want to min/restore anymore to change windows). This means that the right click method doesn't work... unless i'm missing something-ie. is there a windowblinds hotkey for getting the titlebar right click menu?

0pxl would be perfect for me if there was a little tab in the bottom right hand side for resizing - some windows in explorer always have that tab (i can't remember which) but they are few and far between.

Not that much of an issue for me, just thought i'd bring it up incase it'll help others using windowblinds with 0pxl.

anyone got any suggestions?

i'm using pack's windowblinds theme and it too has 0px borders.

what i do is i resize it from corner of the titlebar.

yep, that's what i do too dinojr, just that its a fairly small area to hit for the resizing and if your window is near the top of your desktop you have to move the window down to resize it by dragging up whereas with a tab at the bottom right you could just leave the window in the same spot and resize by dragging down.

no big deal, just is a bit slower sometimes doing it the 'move then resize' route

mac are like that too. because of them being borderless, they have a dragger at the bottom right hand side of the windows. pretty small area too.

I had originally said this

Because if one is using a window shading utility like FreeShader, or as someone previously mentioned, WindowsBlinds, then right clicking on the title bar results in the selected window being rolled up to the title bar.

Ahhh, now i see you were talking about grusic...

i never understood the "little icon" that you're supposed to click on because i was using a different skin and spent about a minute hunting for what you were taking about until i decided that yep, my eyesight isn't wonked out from staring at the screen too long, that icon just ain't there - HAHA, :joystick:

... changed skins and now i have that icon to left click on (except mine's on the left side of the titlebar while i work through modding this skin).

i use this little app to resize and move windows. it's really great and afaik there will be a more featured version of this software:

download from http://vnet.hu/on/share/wm_demo.zip - (anywhere in a

window: alt+rightmousedrag will move it, alt+leftmousedrag will resize

it - like in KDE).

And to fix the Freeshade problem, you have to enable "two mouse button mode" from the command line. Look at the provided documentation for the solution.

I did and it works great.

hey contra can you give me a point in the direction towards this documentation, that sounds good, cause i like double click=max/min, right click = roll. so that would help me.

oh yeah, judge, you can do that from the wb config, no need to go into builder(especially since i don't have it)

i need a third option since the other two are taken. For skins that don't have that icon that grusic was talking about, contra's method sounds good; hell sounds better than having to icon aim in any skin. Any direction much apprectiated :joystick:
