Install/Uninstall Error Message

When I try to uninstall iTunes on my computer a get a message like (paraphrasing) "Instal/uninstal software not working. Take Windows out of Safe Mode or contact your personell for assisance."

I was trying to install iTunes with Multi-Plugin when I realized nothing happened when I double clicked it. So I went to Uninstall my current version of iTunes and that message popped up. I can install/uninstall some things (for example Flyakite) but when I try to do iTunes and some others that message pops up. I know that I am not running my computer in Safe Mode so I don't know what it could be....can anyone help me with this?

Now THAT's a screwed up glitch. And I've had more than my share of strange glitches. Try turning on your computer one day and being met with a message "Unable to load operating system".

It sounds like your computer thinks it's in Safe Mode and it's not. Or your installers do, anyway. Google is your friend. Try searching with something like "safe mode uninstall error, not in safe mode". Or something to that effect.

Thanks for your post Ali C, I'll see what teh googlez has to say about this.

I downloaded Multi-Plugin alone and it installed fine. It's just that certain installer that wont work. And here's the error message:

The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.

Try:

Start-->Run-->services.msc-->Windows Installer Service-->Start (and set it to Automatic).

-NC

Thanks for that nc. But when I tried it, I was greeted by another lovely message:

Could not start the Windows Installer service on Local Computer.

Error 193: 0xc1
